Borosilicate Gauge Glass for use in water level gauges for boilers and other applications. This glass belongs to the pyrex family, where boron trioxide is mixed with silica for the main glass forming constituents. This gives the glass a very low thermal expansion coefficient, making it suitable for applications where thermal resistance is needed (resistance to Thermal Shock). Suitable for temperatures up to 210°C and pressures up to 17 Bar (pressure rating decreases as the temperature of the media increases). The outside diameter is 19mm which was also commonly know as 3/4" glass in the industry.
If you choose your size range for the desired glass thickness above, you can then select the option to specify your cut length. We will then cut the glass tube on our CNC glass cutting machine (the end will have a straight edge). If you only know the vessel centers measurement and it is going on our Hawleys BGM Water Gauge Mounts, you will minus 48mm from your vessel centers to arrive at the cut glass length.
A full length of glass uncut is 1500mm for both the 3.2mm and 5.5mm wall thicknesses.

What is a Gauge Glass For Water Level Gauges?
A three way stainless steel ball valve operates on the same principal as a two way ball valve but instead of a complete isolation or complete open (2 states, closed or open) it will have one line open and one line closed. Also during its 90 degree turn from one line to another there is a point where all lines are partially open to each other even though this is for a short period of time (depends upon how fast you actuate the valve). The 3 way ball valve itself is made of cast stainless steel (CF8M) with a polished stainless steel ball and a stainless steel handle.
How does a Gauge Glass For Water Level Gauges work?
The 3 way valve will work by rotating 90 degrees. This will be in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction depending upon wether it is actuated (electrically, pneumatically) or manual. In the above state where it is operated by a lever you will move the handle until it reaches the stop pin. This means you cant turn it any further as it only needs a 90 degree rotation to switch from one line to the other. The lever is lockable so it can be padlocked into one position to avoid unwanted actuation.
How long will my Gauge Glass For Water Level Gauges last?
This depends upon the usage case of your valve, its environment, media and how many times it is cycled. For instance if it is on a clean media, in a clean environment and not cycled regulary the life will be decades. If it is on a corrosive media and in a dry application with a high cycle rate the life will be much shorter. We conduct regular lab testing and 30,000 cycles is a reasonable life cycle depending upon the application.
How do I install a Gauge Glass For Water Level Gauges?
This really depends upon the application it is going into. As this 3 way valve is female threaded it will need a male thread to fit into each of its ports (eg. male nipple). These should be sealed with thread tape or a thread sealant. As the body is full stainless steel if dissimilar metals are used this can be a potential corrosion point so make sure they are isolated from each other with some PTFE thread tape.
What are typical uses of a Gauge Glass For Water Level Gauges?
These three way ball valves are used on a wide variety of applications. Everything from food industry, power generation, mining and irrigation. The common theme though is where either a diversion (switching from one line to another) or isolation of one line to change over to another is used. The media can range from water, steam all the way through to corrosive chemicals that are compatible with the materials of the valve.
How long will my product take to get to me?
This depends upon where you are based and the freight method chosen. If the express freight option is selected it is usually next day delivery to metropolitan areas in Australia for under 5kg. If free freight has been selected it will go by road freight which can be anywhere from 1 to 10 days depending upon your location. It usually averages 3 days.
What warranty do I get?
All of our products come standard with a 12 month warranty. The good news is we have very strict quality controls and all valves leave our warehouse tested (full material and testing certificates to API598 are available) and inspected so there are rarely any issues. Also once your valve is in and operating it will most likely continue to do so for a very long time.
