Features:
Thickness 1.5mm & 3.0mm
Temperature Limit -200 - 1000 ºC
Application Steam, Refinery, Prochemical & Industrial Industries
Inner bolt circle (also known as ring gaskets) tanged graphite gaskets. Gasket material is made out of pure expanded mineral graphite laminate with a 316/316L stainless steel tanged insert (0.1 mm.).
Due to the characteristics of graphite this is a high quality material with universal use in a high pressure high temperature service.

What is a Tanged Graphite Inner Bolt Circle Gasket?
A Tanged Graphite Inner Bolt Circle (sometimes called IBC or ring) Gasket is a gasket that is cut to encompass just the inner ring of the flange (inside the bolt holes). The gasket is made out of Graphite with a 316 Stainless Steel tang through it. This combination gives the gasket characteristics including strength, temperature and chemical resistance.
How does a Tanged Graphite Inner Bolt Circle Gasket work?
This works by the Tange Graphite forming a softer layer sealing ring between two hard surfaces which allows a seal to form. Tanged Graphite is not the softest sealing material available but is considered softer than other metallic gaskets such as spiral wounds. This will allow an easier seal as the material is more workable.
What Thickness Tanged Graphite Inner Bolt Circle Gasket should I choose?
This really comes down to two factors; what is the condition of the current flange faces and what is the user preference. As a general rule of thumb you should go with the thinner gasket (within reason) as it will actually handle a higher pressure. This can seem counterintuitive but there is less of the gasket material in contact with the media so more is retained by the two flange faces. However if the flange faces are pitted or a little uneven you should pick a thicker gasket as it will need more material to work into these spaces to allow a better seal. Also some users have a preference of thickness to work with. If in doubt we usually recommend a 1.5mm flange thickness for Tanged Graphite.
How long will my IBC Tanged Graphite Gasket last?
This really depends upon the environment, media, temperature and pressure where the gasket is installed. However, Tanged Graphite has a very long life time. It may be reused if it hasn't bound to the surface of the flange which sometimes can happen depending upon the temperature and pressure of the media.
What are typical uses of an IBC Tanged Graphite Gasket?
These have a very wide range of use cases however they are very popular on steam and boiler systems. They can be used in a multitude of other cases especially where there is a high temperature media. Inner Ring Gaskets are mostly used on flanges where there is a raised face and the ring gasket will seal on this.
How do I install a Ring Tanged Graphite Gasket?
The two mating surfaces which the Tanged Graphite will form the seal between need to be thoroughly cleaned to make sure there is no dirt or debris on the faces. Once this is achieved and the surfaces look clean the two ends can be bought together with the Tanged Graphite forming the middle seal. Care must be taken to ensure the Tanged Graphite is concentric in the pipe so it is not in the flow path and is mating on the sealing surfaces only. As it is just an inner ring this is particularly important as it does not have the bolt holes to help hold the gasket in place. Once this is achieved the pipe/flange bolts can be tightened in a diagonal direction to ensure an even sealing pressure is achieved. How long will my product take to get to me?
This depends upon where you are based and the freight method chosen. If the express freight option is selected it is usually next day delivery to metropolitan areas in Australia for under 5kg. If free freight has been selected it will go by road freight which can be anywhere from 1 to 10 days depending upon your location. It usually averages 3 days.
What warranty do I get?
These gaskets do not have a warranty per ce as it really depends upon the application and installation. The good news is we have very strict quality controls and all Inner Bolt Circle Tanged Graphite Gaskets are inspected so there are rarely any issues. They are also cut by our CNC machine so they are dimensionally very accurate.
